1999-2000 Marine Monitoring Report
King County conducts an extensive water quality monitoring program on Puget Sound. This
routine monitoring is done to verify that the treated effluent from King County's three wastewater treatment
facilities does not degrade the water quality in the vicinity of the effluent outfalls. Additionally, ambient
monitoring which focuses on areas outside the immediate vicinity of known discharges assess background conditions
in central Puget Sound. Additional monitoring was conducted in 1999 and 2000 to support the planning process of the new regional
wastewater treatment plant in southern Snohomish County.
The results of the 1999-2000 montioring effort which includes general water quality parameters, metals, pesticides,
semi-volatile organics, PCBs, and bacteria in water column, sediment, algae, and shellfish samples are reported here,
in electronic format. Text files are in .pdf format, which are viewed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader program.
